Catholic Day of Action 9/4/19

7/18/2019 11:00 AM | On Wednesday, September 4 the U.S. Federation of the Sisters of St. Joseph will be joining with various coalitions and organizations to participate in the Catholic Day of Action in Newark, NJ to challenge the Trump administration's abuse of immigrant children and families.

Other Catholic partners include, the Leadership Conference of Women Religious (LCWR), Conference of Major Superiors of Men (CMSM), Franciscan Action Network (FAN), Ignatian Solidarity Network, the Sisters of Mercy of the Americas, the Maryknoll Office of Global Concerns, Columban Center for Advocacy, National Advocacy Center of the Sisters of the Good Shepherd, Sisters of the Sacred Heart, and Pax Christi.

The prayerful direct action in Newark, NJ. is scheduled for 10 AM on Sept. 4. We will gather to call on the Trump administration to end the abuse and detention of children. The event will include prayer, ritual, and a call to action by Catholic leaders. Because of the urgency and depth of the injustice, there will also be an opportunity, for those who choose, to engage in nonviolent civil disobedience. The group, as a whole, will not be participating in the nonviolent civil disobedience. However, individuals can choose to participate.

At this time, we are not offering transportation but can help to connect others who may be able to carpool, travel together, etc... We will be in touch shortly to connect others and maybe coordinate posters, etc... for the event. Please feel free to send this form to others to participate.
